Pavarotti is the one who suggested that they perform together--he realized the attention it would bring to good causes. It's sad that people can't simply appreciate the fact that these two great performers are trying to contribute something to humanity. Bono is certainly aware that he is setting himself up for ridicule. He apparently has the strength of character to deal with it. They felt he cheapened himself badly. So, I don't understand snobs in any case. There's only two kinds of music - good, and bad. Pavarotti did good music, and so did his friends.
