Tenghiz Zaalishvili sings town song "Mukhambazi"(Tchubinishvili) with duduki at Tbilisi Opera House (Georgia) Patara Kakhi, King Erekle II, had an ashug named Sayatnova. Sayatnova gained particular popularity among the ashugs and profoundly influenced the creative work of his contemporaries and the generations of Ashugs to come. He also contributed to Georgian literature and is considered to be the founder of the mukhambazi verse in Georgian poetry. "How magnificent is the colorful sophistication of Old Tbilisi!.. Here, in its very heart flows a spring of the purest water - the source of majestically alluring poetry. I have drunk amply from this spring and I am proud that its bounty has flown into my veins. ...I love Tbilisi... Ioseb Grishashvili About T.Zaalishvili Studied in Tbilisi concervatory under maestro Sandro Inashvili became a pupular tenor when was chosen by Georgian government to impersonate famous Georgian tenor Vano Saradjishvili(1879-1924) who was then called Nightingale of Georgia. Became Tbilisi Opera House principal tenor and performed internationaly within the Soviet Block countries. Partnered Jerome Hines(Faust),Kim Borg(bass), Dorothy Kirsten(Alfredo in "La Traviata") Lia Hubik, Nicolae Herlea and many other internationaly acclaimed singers. Was among other prominent Georgians invited to USA by Jimmy Carter and recieved honorary Georgian Citizenship(USA). Named as a People's Artist of Georgia still ocasionally performs at the age of 78.
