Not quite. The standard US Military rifle since the mid 1980's has been the M16A2. More recently the U.S. Marine Corps and some Army Units have began adopting the M16A4. The M4A1 is a shorter and lighter version of the M16A2. It has a shorter heavier barrel, telescoping buttstock, and selective fully automatic fire. Some M16A1's remain in service in small numbers for traing purposes.
